I made the statement that Seashore will always be free - and so it will be.Įdit: and for some context, after 2 months of soliciting financial support I haven't even recovered 50% of the USED Mac mini I needed to buy in order to test M1 Silicon support - so honestly - I have little sympathy for how you feel you are being "nagged". As an aside - there were multiple competing apps available charging significantly more that were improperly based on Seashore. You can't even find it within yourself to leave a positive review for a product you clearly use a lot.
Please tell me then, what have you done to give back to the project? A bug report? A pull-request? No. It is literally less than 1% on most modern Mac screens. Update: changing your 1 star review to a 2 star doesn't make things rightĮdit: The banner is a single text line of 16 pixels. That fact that you would leave a 1 star review for an app you claim you've been a long time user of says a lot about your character. If you use it a lot, maybe it is burdensome on your conscience because surely it is not the price? The banner can simply be ignored OR dismissed by reading the request (and waiting 10 seconds). If you rarely use it, I can't imagine the request banner is all that burdensome or intrusive. I personally give far more annually to Wikipedia, PBS, and many others than is being requested here. Giving a 4-5 star rating while decrying this action wouldn't be an effective dissent. There are less intrusive ways to do this that few would object to. I strongly disagree with your decision to compel donations with a nag that takes away valuable screen space. Update: hey developer, YOU are missing the point. It just feels wrong for an open-source project to go this route. But now that the app has become nagware with a banner pestering for a "donation", I'll have to re-consider keeping it around. I've been a long time user of Seashore despite having other, more robust apps at my disposal because it's lean and fast for some basic tasks.
